HIGH PERFOMANCE PEDAGOGY
Educational project
Excellence is the full degree of personal development to which each can aspire to. This is the pedagogical and educational quality that Attendis pursues. For each student. With the family. Thanks to their teachers.
The pedagogy of a global mentality has for Attendis an anthropological and a competency aspect: the anthropological one consists in educating everyone in respect; and the competency aspect consists in valuing the diversity of cultures, understanding how they are interrelated and striving to learn more about them. Hence the specific contribution added by the educational programs of the Attendis Group, which inserts students in a broad educational space, and later facilitates their social, cultural and civic interaction.
Learning languages is one of the basic tools, by mastering a second and a third language, the student has access to a new and wide range of interests and is more prepared to operate in a globalized and changing world. The educational programs of the Attendis group constitute a pedagogical framework for students from 0 to 18 years of age, which encourages students to think critically and independently, and to investigate meaningfully and logically. This vertically guides, from Infant to Baccalaureate years, all the active methodologies incorporated throughout these last years in Attendis. The Attendis student, during the school stage, is stimulated to develop and enrich his / her personal and cultural identity. Trained to think independently. Put in a position to design and drive their lifelong learning. Excels in leadership attitudes, community service, solidarity, teamwork, and deep research skills. All this, without neglecting the human and Christian formation that are part of the essence and origin of the schools of Attendis.
Christian Education
Attendis’s educational project includes the transmission of human and Christian values, such as solidarity, effort, generosity, service to society, the search for truth and freedom. From the respect for all the beliefs, the schools of Attendis offer to their students a Christian formation faithful to the doctrine of the Catholic Church.
The schools of Attendis collect many of the teachings of Saint Josemaría, founder of Opus Dei, about family, the value of work well done, and the concern for others. By express desire of the fathers and mothers who promoted these schools, the Prelature of Opus Dei provides spiritual help in very varied ways: priestly care, religious classes, doctrinal advice, etc.
Bilingualism
Education at Attendis is bilingual in English and Spanish from the beginning of the school year. In Early Childhood and Primary Education, students work 50% of the class in English. In Secondary, a third of the day is taught in English, with at least three curricular subjects taught in this language. The DELTA Program (Developing European Languages Teaching and Acquisition) establishes a specific teaching methodology in these courses: school children receive half of the classes in English, in a different classroom than the Spanish lessons and with a native or bilingual teacher.
The principle that moves the entire pedagogical line is that “learning a language is learning how to use it.” For this reason, a language immersion system is used: children do not study English, they work in English. Attendis schools also have native conversation assistants who, during school hours, offer students the opportunity to practice in small groups their oral communication skills. On the other hand, from 1st of Primary Education, the curriculum includes learning a third language (French, German or Portuguese).
International mindset and language learning
In Attendis schools, teaching is bilingual in English and Spanish from 0 years old up to 2nd Baccalaureate.
We prepare students to obtain an official Cambridge ESOL English certificate. The objective is for students to complete their school years with the Certificate in Advanced English, an accredited level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and in all Attendis schools it is completed with a third European language (German , French or Portuguese) optionally from Primary and as a curricular subject in Secondary and Baccalaureate. In addition, all schools in Attendis are official test centers for language tests at the University of Cambridge, Trinity College London, the Alliance Française and the Goethe institute.
Character education
Our Educational Project wants to train competent professionals and integral people who attend to all aspects of the human being. For this reason, academic training is combined with learning the skills and competencies that are the basis of happiness and personal fulfillment.
The Student Training Plan and, in particular, personal counseling interviews, take advantage of so-called “sensitive periods” to help school children acquire habits, values and competences.
In addition, transversely and throughout the school journey, four major basic competencies are worked on: the culture of effort, social involvement and the defense of just causes; decision making and emotional maturity.
Personalized pedagogy
One of the differentiating factors of the Attendis educational model is personalized pedagogy, since all students are unique and we have a personal learning challenge for each of them.
Individualized attention in teaching is one of the factors that provides the highest quality to the Attendis educational model. In addition to leading to a high rate of school success, it allows learning methods to be adapted to the characteristics of each student, thanks to the counseling and personal development sessions that the student maintains monthly with his tutor, to set goals together concrete both academically and personally. This favors self-knowledge, academic success and the acquisition of skills.
One of the reasons Attendis organization is personalised is because we offer differentiated education. Through this system we adapt learning to the different maturative rates of each sex, promoting equality and female leadership.
Attenditas
With the Attenditas program, our teachers acquire the necessary specialization to carry out personal and family counseling.
Social commitment and citizenship
Our Human Training plan integrates the attributes of the International Baccalaureate Learning Community, which are aimed at “training people with an international mindset who, aware of the condition that unites them as human beings and the responsibility they share to watch over the planet contribute to creating a better and more peaceful world, stimulating their understanding of the great social problems, their commitment to the protection of the environment, the correct distribution of wealth, democratic values and equality between men and women.
From Primary Education, students actively start volunteering and cooperating with social entities: Food Banks, non-governmental organizations, shelters …
